Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal utilizes the thermal, or heat, energy produced by the laser to destroy the hair follicle by damaging the follicle's germinative cells . Shaving, waxing, and tweezing only removal the hair, however, laser hair removal destroys the cells that are responsible for the hair growth. Destroy the follicle and there is no need to relentlessly keep on removing the hair. To understand how laser hair removal works you must understand that the color of the hair is due to a natural pigment found in the follicle called melanin. It is this compound that makes laser hair removal possible.When laser energy is applied to the skin, the melanin absorbs this energy. When melanin absorbs energy it produces a thermal (heating) effect. This heating action is what kills the hair, which later falls out. Since hair grows in predictable cycles, it is necessary to repeat this process during growth cycles and that is why 5-7 treatments are necessary to accomplish permanent hair removal.
